Ask the Rabbi with Rabbi Chaim Mintz

We learn that everything Hashem does is for the best, and also that He can make miracles happen. We, the entire Jewish nation, have been praying for months for the safe return of the Bibas family, Shiri and her two little children, taken hostage by Hamas. Now, when we get the heartbreaking news that they will be returned to Israel in coffins… what are we supposed to think? We feel like we were betrayed, like all our prayers went unheard. How do we understand this tragedy? Can the rabbi give us some comfort?

Rabbi Chaim Mintz responds:

Short recap of the video: We must remember some important points. The first point is that we are in a temporary world, a fleeting moment compared to the eternal life that those who are worthy to have in the next world, our soul is the essence of our existence, and it lives forever. Secondly, we all have a specific purpose in life to accomplish, and some accomplish earlier than others and go to a better life in the world to come, where their souls enjoy real eternal bliss. When a child passes away, it’s because they have a short task to accomplish, probably to fix up something from a previous life. After the child accomplishes their task, they are taken back to a better place and do not have to stay in this difficult world. This is all part of Hashem’s plan, and it’s for the betterment of people.
